Brownout is the psychedelic Latin funk alter-ego of the acclaimed ensemble, Grupo Fantasma, and features the phenomenal talents of Adrian Quesada. Their debut album Homenaje was released last year and received overwhelming acclaim. Despite holding down numerous gigs last year with Grupo Fantasma, the band found time late last year to hit the studio and lay down the tracks for another album.
The resulting record, Aguilas and Cobras features their trademark “hardcore latin funk” coupled with generous amounts of psychedelic experimentation and anchored by driving Latin percussion and lots of electric guitar interplay. Brownout continues to carry the Afro-Latin funk torch into the future by creating fresh grooves which are timeless, honest and filled with their own unique vibe.
Catch them on their upcoming East Coast tour of the U.S. throughout October to get the true Brownout experience! For my ATL folks, this one is not to be missed. Oct. 10th at The EARL alongside Lloyd’s Rocksteady Revue. Massive vibes in East Atlanta on a Saturday night!
