Earl ‘Chinna’ Smith & Leebert ‘Gibby’ Morrison – Guitars On Top

Legendary Jamaican guitarist, Earl ‘Chinna’ Smith, from the mighty Soul Syndicate, teamed up with fellow guitarist Leebert ‘Gibby’ Morrison to record an instrumental tribute to the Heptones On Top LP, a bona fide classic form the Rocksteady era and one of my favorite records of all-time. Carl ‘Bridge’ Ayton and Uziah ‘Sticky’ Thompson serve up the percussive element to the songs which were recorded over the course of a decade at Inna De Yard Studios in Kingston, JA.

If you’ve never done so, I’d highly recommend you listen to the Heptones record first. Not only to hear one of the best Rocksteady albums ever recorded, but to give yourself a better idea of what Chinna, Gibby and crew are doing on their tribute. Impressive stuff and essential vibes for all the Rocksteady lovers out there!
