Love’s a Real Thing: The Funky, Fuzzy Sounds of West Africa

A hip-shaking, foot-tapping compilation of psychedelic West African rock music that delves into West Africa’s funky poly-rhythmic take on the psychedelic movement coming out of America in the 70s.

On a not-relevant-to-the-reader-but-I-don’t-care note, I remember hearing this for the first time in Professor EK’s car in the summer of 2005. Parked behind The Local on Ponce, we burned some cheeba cheeba, destroyed his speakers with the tune below and just shook our heads and laughed at the ridiculous bass levels being dropped and the dope sounds of Manu Dibango’s vibraphone. Good times!
