Manuel Guajiro Mirabal is a man of few words when it comes to music, preferring in true brass player’s fashion to let his trumpet speak for itself. He has an unshakeable belief in the relevance and vitality of Cuba’s rich musical heritage. His debut solo album is a tribute to one of the great figures in Cuban music, Arsenio RodrÃguez, featuring many of his colleagues from the various Buena Vista Social Club projects. All of the tracks were written by or associated with Senor RodrÃguez. This record is filled with powerful, driving, trumpet-led Conjunto music from the 1940s and 50s.
