Mi Kwaam Suk Wan Loy Krathong

November 2, 2009

This evening is the full-moon night of the 12th month of the Thai lunar calendar which means it is Loy Krathong Day throughout Thailand. It’s called the “Festival of Light” since the skies will be filled with “khom loy” (floating lanterns) and the waters will be filled with “krathong” (decorative vessels crafted from banana trees). Happy Loy Krathong Day!

Where is this photo taken? I am planning to go to Sukhothai this week… is it a good choice?

well, i didn’t take that picture, but it is from chiang mai. while sukhothai could be a good choice, it is chiang mai that will blow your mind. stunning! you can also search for “yi peng” festival for more information. hope you enjoy wherever you end up. i’m sure you’ll love the celebration.
