Niney the Observer – Microphone Attack 1974-78

Winston Holness, more commonly known as Niney the Observer, was a Jamaican producer who cut numerous Reggae and Dub sides throughout the 70s. His name “Niney” came about as a result of him having only nine fingers, after losing one in a workshop, and his name “the Observer” came from the name of the label that he started in 1970. This collection showcases the deejays who laid down tracks for him in the mid-70s. The focus is on I-Roy with Big Youth showing up on a handful of tracks and the likes of Dillinger, U-Roy, Ranking Trevor and Trinity making appearances also. A killer collection of sides from an under-recognized producer. Run di riddim Niney!
