Pete La Roca
October 8, 2011
Two top-notch platters from Pete Sims aka Pete La Roca. While he played with the likes of Sonny Rollins, Jackie Maclean, Freddie Hubbard, Sonny Clark and others from the late-50s to mid-60s, it would be these two sets where he would act as the leader. Unfortunately, he opted to stop being a drummer extraordinaire and left the Jazz world in 1968 to become an attorney. Yeah, I’m confused too, but at least he left us these killer albums to cherish. Enjoy!
