The Cesta All-Stars – The Cesta All-Stars Vol.1
September 12, 2008
In the 60’s, producer Al Santiago recorded Latin jam sessions in the wee hours of the mornings, when all the great musicians of that era had finished their regular gigs. The group was led by pianist Charlie Palmieri and produced by Joe Quijano. Al called them the Alegre All-Stars because of his Alegre label. These cuts were recorded on a freezing Sunday morning of November in New York City. For reasons of Al’s illness this one never got released…until Joe Quijano compiled the tracks together and released it under the name of The Cesta All-Stars.
